Actor Hagen Mills was a 'very troubled soul' says mother of ex-girlfriend he tried to kill

When actor Hagen Mills shot his ex-girlfriend, Erica Price, before taking his own life in an attemped murder-suicide earlier this week, her shaken mother witnessed the entire ordeal.

Tammy Green-Price told the Daily Mail that she saw the terrifying incident unfold and even "prepared to die" as she tried to protect the couple's four-year-old daughter inside their home in Mayfield, Kentucky.

"I thought I was next," Tammy told the outlet. "But the baby was behind me and my only real thought was to shield her. I somehow managed to nudge her down on the couch then closed my eyes and prepared to die."

Mills reportedly stormed inside his ex's home on May 19 and tied Tammy's arms with duct tape as he waited for Erica to come home. When she did so 30 minutes later, Tammy said that he ambushed Erica at the door, firing multiple shots at her from close range. He then turned the gun on himself and died at the scene.

Erica, an advanced practice nurse, suffered gunshot wounds to her arm and chest, but miraculously survived and was able to call police.

"I think he believed she was dead, as soon as she hit the floor he shot himself," recalled Tammy, who is also a nurse. "This man was obviously a very troubled soul. I would love to talk about what an awful person he is.. [but] the important thing is that my daughter is going to be OK."

Two months before his death, Mills was reportedly arrested and charged with first degree rape, sodomy and kidnapping. More than one month later, he was released on bond.

Mills was known for his role in the pilot of Baskets opposite Zach Galifianakis. He also starred in the 2013 TV movie Bonnie & Clyde: Justified. Most recently, Mills had a supporting role in the horror film Starlight, which premieres on August 4.
