Would-be car thieves stalled by manual in Melbourne, forced to flee on foot

Two crooks who held up a driver in Melbourne's south-east and attempted to steal his car, have been left red-faced after they were unable to start the manual Hyundai.
The victim was parking his car on Tovan Akas Avenue in Bentleigh about 3.30am this morning when he was approached by two men.
One of the offenders, who was armed with a knife, threatened the victim, demanding he hand over his wallet and car keys.

The owner of the Hyundai i30, a man in his 30s, complied and handed over his belongings.
Police said the men then attempted to steal the victim's car but were unable to start it because it was a manual.
Both men then fled from the scene.
